This guide is for iPhone or iPad users who can't find Shadowrocket in the App Store, can open its product page but can't buy it, or can't find a previous purchase after changing devices. First, distinguish search results from product-page messages. Then check the store region, age restrictions and purchasing account. The goal is to find out whether your account can get the app from that storefront—not to keep changing client settings.
1. First, distinguish search issues from availability issues
App Store search results aren't the only way to identify an app. Keywords, result ranking and the active storefront can all affect what appears. Search for the full name Shadowrocket rather than relying on a Chinese nickname, then open the product page directly from our Get the App page and check the result.
If the product page shows the app name, developer and purchase button, the page is accessible. The app's absence from search results doesn't mean it has been discontinued. Conversely, seeing the product description in a browser doesn't guarantee that your Apple Account can buy it. Check the message shown in the App Store itself.
Start by noting exactly what happens: no search results, an unavailable message on the product page, a purchase button that won't proceed, or a missing item in your purchase history. Each calls for different checks. After each check, try the same product page again. Avoid changing your network, account and device all at once, or it will be harder to identify the cause.
2. Store region: Check the purchasing account's Country/Region
The App Store storefront is primarily tied to the Country/Region of the Apple Account used for purchases. Device language, keyboard language and your current location are separate settings. Changing Settings → General → Language & Region alone won't change or verify the store account's region.
-
Check the purchasing account
Open Settings, tap the Apple Account name at the top, then go to Media & Purchases to confirm which account is used for store purchases. It may differ from the account used for iCloud.
-
Check the storefront region
Go to Media & Purchases → View Account → Country/Region to see the country or region on file. Follow the prompts if verification is required.
-
Reopen the product page
Open the App Store product page again from our Get the App page. Note whether the app appears and whether you see a message that it's unavailable in your region. Don't rely on search results alone.
-
Consider the implications before changing regions
If you genuinely need to change your region, first check your account balance, active subscriptions, payment method and Family Sharing requirements. Follow Apple's account process, and don't switch regions repeatedly just to test availability.
Our App Store link includes the /us/ path, but the App Store may still handle the request according to your signed-in account and storefront status. The region in the link won't change your account's Country/Region or bypass the storefront's availability.
3. Age rating: Check Screen Time and family restrictions
If an app's age rating exceeds the content limits allowed on a device, search or access may be restricted. Check the current age rating on the product page, then compare it with the allowed Apps rating on the device. Ratings and how they're displayed can change with store policies and system updates, so this guide doesn't specify a particular age rating.
- On newer systems, check the allowed app ratings under
Settings → Screen Time → Content & Privacy Restrictions → App Store, Media, Web & Games → Apps. - Some systems use
Settings → Screen Time → Content & Privacy Restrictions → Content Restrictions → Apps. Follow the path shown on your device. - Also check
Screen Time → Content & Privacy Restrictions → iTunes & App Store Purchases → Installing Apps. Menu names may vary by system version. - If a family organizer manages these settings, ask them to check the applicable rating and installation permissions. Don't try to bypass the Screen Time passcode or family rules.
Content restrictions and Ask to Buy are separate features. Content restrictions control what can be shown or used; Ask to Buy determines whether a purchase request needs family approval. An approval request doesn't mean payment has gone through. If the app doesn't appear in search, check the Apps rating too—not just the family approval status.
Devices managed by a school or employer may also have restrictions. If a setting is unavailable or the device says it's managed by an organization, give the administrator the app name, app ID and message you're seeing. Searching again or changing the language usually won't affect these policies.
4. Account status: Separate connection, verification and payment issues
An account that needs verification, unaccepted store terms or a payment issue is more likely to affect purchases and redownloads. These issues don't necessarily make an app disappear from search. Once you can open the product page, check the purchase flow rather than assuming every issue is account-related.
Error: App Not Available
What it means and what to do: This title usually appears with a message that the app isn't available in your current country or region. Read the full message, then check the Country/Region for the Media & Purchases account and the active storefront. Don't assume the title alone means there's a network problem.
Error: Cannot Connect to App Store
What it means and what to do: The device can't connect to the store right now. This may be related to your network or the store service. Try opening another App Store page, then switch once between a trusted Wi-Fi network and cellular data before trying again. Don't change your account region straight away.
These are examples of messages that may appear in English; your device may show localized wording. When reporting a problem, include the full message rather than just saying “it won't download.” If you see a payment or account-disabled message, follow the instructions for that account issue instead of using the steps for regional unavailability.
- Verification required: Verify through Settings or the App Store. Never enter your password or verification code into a form sent by someone else.
- Payment issue: Check
Settings → Apple Account → Payment & Shippingand update your payment details or resolve any outstanding balance as prompted. The purchase message will show whether the issue is resolved. - Multiple pages won't open: Check the time settings under
Settings → General → Date & Time, then see whether your network requires a web-based sign-in. - Only this app is affected: Keep the full product-page message and check the store region, age rating and device compatibility first.
5. Already purchased but seeing a price? Check purchase history and compatibility
If the product page shows a price after you change devices, don't pay again right away. First, make sure Media & Purchases is signed in to the Apple Account that originally bought Shadowrocket, then look for the app in the App Store account's purchases. Using the same iCloud account doesn't prove that the purchasing account is also the same.
- Open the App Store, tap your account picture, then search for Shadowrocket in Apps, Purchased or the equivalent purchase history section. The section name depends on your system.
- If it isn't there, check your purchase history and confirm the app name and purchasing account from the transaction. Also check whether the purchase is hidden.
- If you have a purchase record but can't redownload the app, note your current storefront region and the message shown. Follow Apple's purchase support process; don't keep trying to pay.
- If the page says your device isn't compatible, review the Compatibility information on the product page. Check the App Store listing for system requirements and purchase eligibility.
Shadowrocket is primarily for iPhone and iPad. Check the same App Store listing for availability and compatibility on Mac, Apple TV and Apple Vision. The fact that you can get it on another device doesn't mean your current device meets the system requirements or purchase eligibility criteria.
6. Verify the app, then save your troubleshooting notes
Check the app name, developer and app ID together rather than relying on search ranking or a similar icon. Shadowrocket is developed by Shadow Launch Technology Limited, and its App Store app ID is 932747118. Compare the official icon with the one in our app verification guide.
If the checks above look fine but the issue persists, save a brief record: device model, system version, store Country/Region, whether Screen Time restrictions apply, the full product-page message, and whether the failure occurred during search, page access or payment. This is enough to help distinguish storefront availability, device restrictions and account transaction issues.
- Before sharing a screenshot or support record, hide your Apple Account email address, payment details, sensitive order information and verification codes.
- Don't change Shadowrocket's Config, rules or subscription settings to fix an App Store search issue. These settings don't affect how the app appears in the store.
- Once you've obtained the app, follow the setup guide for first launch and system permissions. Troubleshoot store access separately from app connectivity.
You're done when you can verify the app's identity, determine whether your current storefront and device allow you to get it, and identify any remaining issue from a specific message. If you don't meet the current requirements, note why and follow the relevant account or device-management process instead of repeatedly refreshing search results.
